Good ol’ Juneau

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Hey!

I had a great trip from Orlando to Juneau that remained nearly uneventful. My early morning drive was scattered with deer, but the rest of my day was relaxing. I was able to bump my flight from Seattle to Juneau to any earlier time, but I was still very tired when I finally arrived into Juneau. Tired and cold.

The weather in Seattle was fairly marginal and decreasing, but the pilots and controllers did a great job.

Here is an audio recording of my flight, Alaska 9, from Orlando Intl. Airport to Seattle-Tacoma Intl. Airport (Thanks Rae!) as well as some pictures from the flight and Juneau.

Preparing for Juneau

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

As the semester nears its end and the grades roll in, I feel great about how everything is going. It looks like I’ll have an A in every class. I’m all set for next semester. My classes will be a little more intense, but that will be good for me! I need the challenge. I’m also going to be starting my air traffic control classes next semester! I can’t wait!

Tomorrow, I have my last final exam and then I’ll be packing and preparing for my trip back to Juneau, Alaska. I’m very excited to go home for a while. I miss Juneau… the people, the scenery, I miss it all. I know my stay will be too short!

In the near future, I hope to visit Atlanta Tower and spend some time writing about it here… keep your eyes peeled and remember to check back!

Also, I’ve uploaded most of my portfolio online. It’s going to remain password protected, but if you’d like access… please don’t hesitate to ask! It is available in an image by image format or PDF format! :)

For fun, here’s a video I quickly recorded tonight at Daytona… pretty sunset!

Thanksgiving Break!

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

After a long break from school, I am ready to go back and finish this semester.

I had an excellent time with my grandparents and family; we had an awesome Thanksgiving dinner with a ton of great food! During my time off, I probably drank more than I should have… but I had a good, relaxing time. It was nice.

I’m preparing to head back to school for the last week of classes followed by a few final exams. Then it will be off to Juneau, Alaska! I can’t wait. I miss everything.

Photo Contest

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

I’m thinking about entering two photos into a photo contest on campus. The theme for the contest is “The Beauty That Surrounds Us” and it can be however we perceive beauty.

Since this is an all-aviation related school, I threw in a photo or two with an airplane in it. But, if you think two of these picture are better than the others… please comment and let me know!

Thanks!

Tribute to Coffee

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

… and to Starbucks, in particular, for keeping me buying more! Despite my beautiful coffee maker, the ease and convenient in-between-all-of-my-classes location of Starbucks keeps me coming back for another… and another refill.

Today was a pretty darn good day. I had two exams today; one in meteorology and one in pre-calculus. I felt very good after each test, and I can’t wait to get my scores back! With the semester coming to an end, I am feeling good about college and my experience so far. That is, until tonight. Registration for classes starts tonight at midnight, but my registration access isn’t working online so I’ve got to wait in line tomorrow… hopefully the classes I want (and need!) are still available. Eh well, we’ll see how it goes tomorrow!

After-The-Article Update:
I got a 100% score on my meteorology exam, where the class average is currently 31%! Also, a friend told me a trick to the web registration… so that worked out as well!

I’m starting my last essay for my COM 122 class. It’s going to be an analytical essay. I’ll be looking at two short stories from a psychological and sociological perspective. Shouldn’t be too bad!

I’m going to leave you with this song that I’m starting to fall in love with. I think mostly just because of the drummer, Chad Sexton, but it’s not a bad song overall. Check out some of their other songs if you haven’t heard of them before: Beautiful Disaster, Amber, Don’t Stay Home, Cali Soca, and more!

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

I spent the weekend at my grandparent’s house in Ocala, Florida… helping them around the house and relaxing a bit. We had a great time and got a lot done!

Check out the three shots, above, from the weekend :)
